Introducing uoAccess Login

The University is moving towards a single sign-on system called uoAccess. To do so, we are gradually migrating web applications to uoAccess. Once we’ve completed these migrations, you’ll only need to log in once to securely access all your applications. The University will keep you informed as we migrate applications to uoAccess.

Protecting Your Account

When using uoAccess login, you will be able to access multiple web applications at the University simultaneously without having to re-enter your credentials. To end your session and to successfully logout from all applications, first click on the logout button. Second, completely exit your browser. While following these steps will end your session with the applications, there are some extra measures you should take to ensure your account and personal information remain protected:

  • Do not leave your workstation unattended if using a public computer.
  • If you need to leave your workstation momentarily, make sure to lock your computer.
  • Do not use your browser’s “remember/save password” functionality.

Consult the IT Security website for further strategies on protecting your data and your privacy.

What does this mean for students?

  • When accessing uoZone, students will no longer use their student number and password to login.
  • Blackboard/Virtual Campus and other applications that require you to login with your student number are not affected by this change.

What does this mean for employees?

  • Blackboard/Virtual Campus, FAST, My HR Profile and other applications that require you to login with your employee number are not affected by this change.
What is my uoAccess ID?

Your uoAccess ID is your passport to many websites, applications and systems at the University of Ottawa. Your uoAccess ID is the short name before your @uOttawa.ca e-mail address (ex: jsmit000).

Your uoAccess password is the same password you use for many applications at the University of Ottawa.

  • For students, your password is the same as your uoZone, Google and Library applications.
  • For employees, your password is the same as your VirtuO, Exchange, FAST and UNIWeb applications.
Why is there no language change button?

The uoAccess login page automatically detects your browser language. If your browser is configured to use the English language, this page will display in English. To see this page in French, you must ensure your browser software is configured to use the French language.

I forgot my password, what do I do?

If you set your security questions, you will be able to use the “Forgot password?” link to easily reset your own password for your uoAccess ID. If you have not set your security questions, please contact the Service Desk at 613-562-5800 extension 6555 or fill out the online Service Desk request form.

Why should I set my security questions?

Setting your security questions allows you to easily reset your own password in the event you are not able to login or have forgotten your password. This will save you time as you will not have to call the Service Desk to have a new password generated for you.
